Here are some open source softwares that you can use. Can b use for setting ur own small company, or even for normal home usage. Most importantly, they r free. =)
Operating Systems Ubuntu - A stable Linux-based operating system that is strong on ease-of-use and installation.
Fedora - Based on the same source code as Red Hat Linux, this is a popular Linux distribution.
Solaris - If you prefer Solaris to Linux, here's where you can get the open source version of Sun's Solaris.
Database MySQL - The world's most popular open-source database.
PostgreSQL - Popular open-source database with advanced features.
Web server Apache - The software that hosts your website.
Applications servers Glassfish & Jboss - The workhorse of your IT system, application server software handles the main business logic of your system.
Office productivity Openoffice - Open source equivalent of Microsoft Office. Into its third version, many laptop vendors now offer Linux with Open Office as an alternative to the Windows and Microsoft Office universe. The best thing is, Open Office can open Microsoft Office files.
